Adult Adoption

Adoption involves the process of establishing a person as the legally recognized parent of another under circumstances in which the other is not their biological offspring.

Adoption can occur in a number of distinctly different factual settings. One of those scenarios involves a situation where an adult person petitions to be adopted by another adult.

An adult may have a variety of reasons for seeking adoption. Commonly, the request is made in order to recognize the reality of a parent-child like relationship which has evolved between people who are not biologically related as parent and child. Unlike adoptions involve minor children, the procedures which apply to an adult adoption are quite straightforward and comparatively easy.
